OSITO BIMBO´S
FIRST STEPS
The company’s public image came from a portrayal of a bear cub that Jaime Jorba had designed for a Christmas card. His wife, Anita Mata, added the baker´s hat, the apron and a loaf under the Osito´s “arm.” Alfonso Velasco fixed its nose.
It’s the same Osito Bimbo that today characterizes Grupo Bimbo for tenderness, impeccable cleanliness and soft textures.

Panificacion Bimbo (i.e. “Bimbo Bread Bakeries”) kicked off operations on December 2, 1945. Its creator’s vision was to “make truly good, nutritious, tasty, fresh bread...

Lorenzo Servitje, Jaime Horba, Jaime Sendra, Jose T. Mata, Alfonso Velasco and Roberto Servitje were its original founders. Early on, they only baked four bread varieties: Super-Pan Bimbo (small and large), black bread and pre-toasted.

Bread Innovation
Super-Pan Bimbo breads became a new sensation in Mexico City markets because they were wrapped in cellophane. The practical, wholesome, fresh and delicious bread quickly won over Mexican palates.

Going Beyond Borders

Bimbo Global Race began 2015
In 2015, we launched our popular footrace that enjoyed participation from 22 cities in nineteen countries. A year later it became a race with a cause, with two-slice bread donations to food banks for each kilometer participant\'s run.

GB enters in India in 2017 with the acquisition of Harvest Gold, the No. 1 Bread in Delhi.
